Weekend warrior tales

By The Zor, 2 August, 2010, No Comment

The God of Speed asked for his tribute this week-end. I have lost a glove, a gas canister,  scratched the goggles and the motorcycle is a wreck.  But riding the trail was a blast.

The week end office

The pit stop in an abandoned village

Driving home I was wondering why all these tributes to the God of Speed. When the phone rang I immediately realized that it was a payment for my selfishness for writing the post from Thursday without mentioning the first Old Timer Race from Romania.

Checking the damage, it hurts.

Go fast! Turn left! Exit the city!

By The Zor, 30 July, 2010, No Comment

This is going to be a selfish weekend advice. For sure there` re a few races to be attended but I will ignore them. Just go out of the city, hit a trail with the motorcycle, bicycle or by foot. This is exactly what I will do. No internet, no city jams and warm pavement,  just a casual enduro track which I hope is not affected by the last week`s storm from the region.

The motorcycle is ready, cleaned off all the spider webs, all the bugs and critters which have nested in it scared away and the pre ride checks done.

A ride, a well deserved meal in the evening and the pipe with some tobacco. That`s it. Packed and ready to go.

Pit stop

By The Zor, 15 May, 2010, No Comment

Week end trip with a pit stop to change the plug. Looking back  I think it was me who needed a new plug. Well. After my heart rate slowed and the new plug was in the bike the trip went on.

It was great, after a soaking wet week-end I am zen. No need for anger management classes or a visit to the shrink in the near future.

Thank you. You.

First week end in the mountains.

By The Zor, 11 April, 2010, No Comment

Could not wait for a warmer, sunnier spring so we went to the mountains this week end. Slight rain, no sun and a long track to the top of the mountain. Being a half day trip the followings were packed: duck tape, pipe with tobacco and accessories, spare glove (I hate when they are wet), spare spark plug and wrench for it, phone, Swiss knife, wallet with ID and some money and GPS on the handlebar.

Had a nice day  but the weather was shit and so was my  physical condition … zero. The winter had been too long.

Small idea

By The Zor, 17 January, 2010, No Comment

A small idea can be of big help. On a long ride it is important to carry some spare jetting, idle needle and other parts for the carburetor. In a transparent pvc hose similar in size to the one conecting the fuel tank to the carburetor I pack all the small parts I need to repair or adjust the carburetor and close the ends with wooden dowels or bolts.  It can be placed in the back pack. I prefer to duck tape it under the seat where the air box is.
