Why I hate Spam

By The Zor, 25 January, 2010, 1 Comment

I am fed up with junk that I receive in my email. Most spammers have the rude impression that by saying that my email was found on a public site they have the right to spam me.

Wrong – European Legislation says this: - ”unsolicited communications for the purposes of direct marketing are not allowed without the consent of the subscribers”  extract from Directive 2002/58 on Privacy and Electronic Communications, otherwise known as E-Privacy Directive, is an EU directive on data protection and privacy in the digital age

In a more simpler term for all the wankers and spammers – unsolicited commercial e-mail is spamming.  Is your mail commercial ? – YES, did I solicit it ? – NO.  So iti is spam, that simple.

How lame and wrong is your product that it needs spam to be promoted? There are so many marketing methods on the internet, why go with spam. It only makes you  and your product a cheap prostitute.

48v Electric Flat Tracker

By The Zor, 23 January, 2010, No Comment

I love backyard engineering. And this one from instructables is the finest. During the last two years electric motorcycles have become the hottest products in R&D. Some corporate idiots spend huge amount of money developing something which can be done for far less money. For example this electric flat tracker done by a youngster and his dad. Great work. Corporate wankers should learn from backyard engineering.

PU foam + MX handlbar

By The Zor, 22 January, 2010, No Comment

Filling your handlebar with spray Polyurethane Foam keeps rocks, dirt and water out of the bar. It can even help reduce vibration through the bar. Try the canned foam sealant used in construction and available from home improvement stores. Use the extension tube that comes with the can, and withdraw the tube as you spray. Trim off the excess after the foam has expanded and dried. This adds hardly any weight. Written by Rob Johnson from Bakersfield, CA.

Soda blasting

By The Zor, 21 January, 2010, 1 Comment

“Sand blasting” a carburetor to become clean as in this picture:

you might think that it has to be expensive. Wrong. It is dirty cheap. It can be done with 5$: – air gun attachment (which is a must have in the garage), backing soda, duck tape and a PVC hose which is going to be used like in this picture:

It is not only cheap but also 100% ecological, backing soda can be washed with water directly in the sink.

Clutch tip

By The Zor, 20 January, 2010, No Comment

This is actually two garage tips in one. First – leave the new clutch plates you intend to use on the bike overnight in a bag with fresh oil (same as the one used in the engine). In a rush sometimes I forget this. But in the garage I have a nice picture framed representing some clutch plates in a bag with oil hanging on the wall near the work bench.

World Builder

By The Zor, 19 January, 2010, No Comment

As a CAD user I wish for such a program  AutoCAD on steroids. A strange man uses a set of sophisticated holographic tools to build a virtual world for the woman he loves, but I stop here not to spoil the short movie.

This award winning short was created by filmmaker Bruce Branit, widely known as the co-creator of ‘405‘. World Builder was shot in a single day followed by about 2 years of post production.

Small idea

By The Zor, 17 January, 2010, No Comment

A small idea can be of big help. On a long ride it is important to carry some spare jetting, idle needle and other parts for the carburetor. In a transparent pvc hose similar in size to the one conecting the fuel tank to the carburetor I pack all the small parts I need to repair or adjust the carburetor and close the ends with wooden dowels or bolts.  It can be placed in the back pack. I prefer to duck tape it under the seat where the air box is.

Marcel Duchamp pipe

By The Zor, 17 January, 2010, No Comment

In 1946, Marcel Duchamp carved a pipe for fellow surrealist Enrico Donati, engraved it with the words “Marcel a Enrico” and gave it to his friend.
